We have always championed simple, fresh, and honest ingredients grown and cultivated by our hard-working team in our Kitchen Gardens – and our bees have become a key feature, sipping summer nectar from our wildflower meadows, pollinating our produce and providing the perfect essentials to our breakfast tables. Our apiary has grown to over 80 hives across THE PIGs and, last year alone, we extracted more than 1,500 kilograms of raw, unpasteurised, and unprocessed delicious honey! So, join us this September, for a taste of how to bring the sweet life home, in our brand-new workshop.
Introduction to Beekeeping

Dive into the world of Beekeeping at THE PIG-near Bath with our new, full-day workshop.
This hands-on, friendly course is run by local expert and founder of Knights Beekeeping, Martin Knight, alongside our PIG team! It’s perfect for those who want to learn what all the buzz is about when it comes down to our pollinator friends, bees. Throughout the day you'll learn how to get started and key basics of beekeeping, how to open up a hive and what to look for inside, plus so much more!

What's included?
The full-day workshop of an Introduction to Beekeeping, piggy snacks, refreshments and a delicious 25 mile menu lunch.
What to expect?
Arrive at 10am at THE PIG-near Bath, to kick start at 10:30am where you'll meet Martin and your fellow beekeepers. Spend the morning immersed in inspiring talks all about bees and exploring the Kitchen Garden, with two breaks for drinks and piggy snacks.
Around midday, you'll tuck into a delicious Kitchen Garden lunch, packed full of ingredients straight from our patch. Afterwards, get ready to pull on your bee suit and head over to our hives to get up close and personal with our fuzzy little friends!
Finish the workshop with an informal group discussion before departing around 3:30pm.

Meet your host
Over a decade ago Martin started keeping bees, all from the idea that local honey would help his daughter's hay fever... and yes, it does work! He decided that he would like to dig down into the world of bees, and learn more about these fuzzy little creatures!
Since the moment he opened his first hive, he was a-buzz with a newfound passion! Martin knew that he wanted to channel it into teaching others to learn all that he knew, and that's how Knights Beekeeping was born.
