Relaxed eating overlooking Rosemary Verey’s original gardens…
Brimming with vegetables, edible flowers and herbs, the Kitchen Garden at THE PIG-in the Cotswolds provides fresh, seasonal and authentic produce 365 days of the year. Our cosy and bright restaurant directly overlooks the formal gardens originally designed in 1951 by renowned garden designer, Rosemary Verey, that is cared for and managed by our gardening teams.
Our Head Chef, Will, and his team work hand-in-hand with the Kitchen Gardeners to create our daily 25 mile menu – brimming with delicious dishes made up of daily harvested garden produce and fresh ingredients from small Cotswolds producers. They’re the best local butchers, bakeries, breweries, farmers and fishmongers we know who supply anything we can’t grow or rear ourselves. We’re big lovers of simple, fresh flavours that change by the day depending on what’s in season – and this means that our commitment to quality always stays the same.
Unlike our other PIGs, the Kitchen Garden at THE PIG-in the Cotswolds is not walled. Together with the Potager garden – part of the original, formal layout of the garden designed by Rosemary Verey – they share a mix of formal box hedging, pleached apple tree hedges, herbs, vegetables, and flowers that help make up our seasonal dishes.
We have two large polytunnels in the Kitchen Garden, one of which has a mature Black Hamburg grape vine growing in it – the original cutting was a gift from Hampton Court Palace. The other polytunnel grows tomatoes and padron pepper plants in the summer and extends the season for soft herbs and baby salad leaves including mustards, rocket, lettuce and pak choi during the winter.
Tuck into our 25 mile menu at the restaurant in the heart of the house, or enjoy some outdoor eating on the terrace, with views over the full and thriving gardens.
Menus
THE PIG’s commitment to a 25 mile menu not only supports our local friends in the Cotswolds but means we can be 100% honest about the provenance of our ingredients.
Take a look at our Sample Menu to get a feel for what we will be serving. Please note these are subject to change.
