Free Kitchen Garden Tours at THE PIGs

Join us on a PIG Kitchen Garden tour this spring

Every day this April, at 11am, our gardeners will be hosting a free Kitchen Garden tour across all our PIGs*. You don’t need to be staying with us to enjoy our Kitchen Garden tours (but we always love having you to sleep over!). It’s a great reason to make the most of the start of sunny afternoons and stay for a delicious piggy lunch afterwards!

Stroll along the unique streets of Padstow, the town centres have boutique shops, small galleries and specialist retailers interwoven with coffee shops, delis and cafes. Pick up some of the best local produce, something handmade or uniquely Cornish at a craft fair.

Padstow Kitchen Garden (3.4 miles)

Along the northern coast of Cornwall sitting on 4 acres of land lies Padstow Kitchen Garden.
The National Lobster Hatchery (3.6 miles)

The National Lobster Hatchery is a marine conservation, research and education charity based in Padstow with a great visitor centre to learn all about their amazing work. The Seven Bays (0.5 miles)

Explore the dramatic Cornish coast by visiting the Seven Bays, a beautiful area with spectacular sandy beaches that stretch from Mawgan Porth to Padstow.
Prideaux Place (3 miles)

Located in North Cornwall, Prideaux Place has beautiful architecture, glorious views across the ancient deer park and so much more to explore.
Camel Trail (15.5 miles)

Enjoy the beautiful Cornish countryside on an 18-mile bike ride along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.
Tarquin's Gin Distillery Tours (6.1 miles)

An award-winning gin experience at Tarquin’s humble distillery overlooking the wild Cornish coast.

By the water

We don’t know about you, but we LOVE being by the water. Our location not only means we have access to some of the freshest local seafood for our 25-mile menu, but we are just a stone’s throw Harlyn Bay beach! Cornwall is well known for surfing and there are so many local places to give it a try, or if water sports isn’t your thing, lucky for you there are plenty of beaches and headlands to explore.

Wild Swimming at Harlyn Bay Beach (0.5 miles)

Dipping a toe in…or fully wet suited up! Wild swimming whilst you are surrounded by nature and exposed to the elements is about as good as it can get for you. If this is your thing, then we can pack you off with a picnic of Hot Toddies, Hot Chocolate and something to nibble on to keep the chills at bay.
George’s surf school (17.4 miles)

Operating at both Harlyn Bay and Polzeath Beach, George’s surf school provides private surf lessons and immersive courses for individuals and small groups.
Harlyn surf school (0.5 miles)

Our friends at Harlyn surf school can help just about anyone stand up on a board! If surfing isn’t your thing, they also offer an exciting range of water sports including stand up paddle boarding, coasteering and kayaking.
Camel Ski School (16.5 miles)

Located on the beautiful Camel Estuary in Rock, Camel Ski School is the UK’s largest waterski centre offering wakeboarding, paddle boarding, wake surfing, kayaking, inflatable rides and water-skiing.
Retallack Water Sports Centre (St Columb Major) (8.1 miles)

Located at Retallack Resort and Spa near Wadebridge and Newquay, Retallack is the best place in Cornwall for water sports.
Hawker’s Cove (1.6 miles)

A quiet little beach located at the mouth of the River Camel; best reached on foot via the Southwest Coast Path
Mother Ivey’s Bay (0.8 miles)

Named after a local witch, this beautifully serene beach has views of the local lifeboat station and is just around the coast from Harlyn Bay.
Harlyn Bay Beach (0.5 miles)

Considered one of the best family beaches in Cornwall, with plenty of space, yellow sand, pebbles, and lots of interesting rock pools- the perfect place to spend a day.

Take a tour around the fabulous vineyards at Camel Valley whilst trying a few local wines; it would be rude not to!
Eden Project (22.3 miles)

Spend the day at the well-known visitor centre at the Eden Project, there is so much to do and see, check out their page to see what events they have on.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan (26.5 miles)

Explore the gardens and wildlife in 200 acres of gardens and estate at The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Tintagel Castle (23 miles)

Experience the magic of Tintagel Castle – a medieval fortress on the cliff tops. Cross the new bridge, discover breathtaking views and explore the legends of King Arthur.
Boscastle (25.6 miles)

There is lots to do in the fishing village of Boscastle, walking routes, shopping or popping in for a bite to eat at ‘The Good Stuff’ café
St Michael’s Mount (46 miles)

The perfect place to spend the day with an ancient castle fortress, sloping subtropical gardens, sweeping lawns, and a harbour village.
Trevibban Mill Vineyard & Orchards (5 miles)

Spend the day at the stunning vineyards and orchards, tuck into good food and taste their fabulous local wines.
Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (46 miles)

A gorgeous place overlooking St Michael’s Mount that celebrates local artists and plants. It also has a lovely café that serves generous cream teas (and ‘cheese’ teas!).
Lostwithiel Antiques Centre (25 miles)

Located in the antique hotspot of Cornwall, this treasure trove is the perfect place to spend a rainy day.
Colwith Farm Distillery Tours (25 miles)

Experience Cornwall’s’ first plough to bottle distillery with a step-by step tour at Colwith Farm.
Day Trips to the Isles of Scilly

Take a boat or plane to experience a day in paradise on the magical Isles of Scilly, just 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall. Close enough to visit for the day; but with enough to keep you entertained for much longer.
